Have you tried putting voltage on the old solenoid on the bench? If it doesn't activate, then the problem can be a broken wire inside the insulation or a dirty connector. You can also check the wires leading into the windings. Sometimes, you can have a "cold" solder joint or the wire has just broken.
If you can post a picture of the old solenoid, there might be some people that can identify it. I haven't posted pictures on here yet, so I can't help you on that.
Good luck,
Bill M

Mine is like the engine builder from New York, Bill Mitchell. No kin that I know of or that he would claim. It is a little funny sometimes, when I order items. "No, not that Bill Mitchell".
I saw that you are from Columbus,OH, so do you run at National Trail Raceway? That was the 1st dragstrip that I ran a car on. That was in 1982 and I had a 68 Chevelle.
Good luck with the transmission.

I own a 72 nova which a big time hitter out of indy named SPEEDY PETEY owned the car.I don't really run a class,I just like playing when I'm not working(long haul trucker). It's a pro-street-race car.It only has a pump gas 502 running 10.70's on motor and mid to high 9's on a 175 hit.Check the car out on hotrod magazine's web-site.In the search box type in speedy petey or speedy petey's nova and it should come up.Blue 72 nova which is still the same as the pic's show.Being a trucker I don't have the kind of time it takes to get into a class. What is your class of choice?
