Default 1/4 MILE CAR QUESTION-WHAT TRANSMISSION TO USE??

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to the 1/4 mile stuff. My big question to anyone who has time to answer is, I bought a 2400lb. Vega, with a 9" rear end. 4.88 gears and the tires are 32"x14"x15". The motor is a S.B.C. with about 375 h.p... Would you use a powerglide or a turbo 350? And what stall speed converter? Thanks for your time........Rob Alessio

At 2400 LBS, and not a lot of HP, i would opt. for the PG and about 5500 stall converter, but then if it was 700 HP i'd say the same thing. The PG is lighter and easier to turn and more dependable.

I'd have to agree use a glide, either a 1.76 first gear or a 1.80 straght cut first gear
