And they throw 'em away after every pass . . Actually they generally bag 'em, tag 'em and keep 'em for post mortem at the engine shop. They're examined along with all the other detritus that the run they participated in is examined. But they never use 'em again . .

And, one might also remember,the Nitro guys use two plugs/Mags or MSD's per cylinder. I'm not sure, because I've been away form it so long, but I think most the Fuel Guys use MSD's too. They get better fire when they want it, can move their timing around a lot easier during the pass, and don't have the parasitic HP loss driving the mags. A mag drags a lot of HP out of an engine at 10 grand.
