Default INTAKE QUESTION ON REC PORT BB2X HEADS WITH OVAL VICTOR

RECENTLY BUILT A 565 BBC WITH A 400TH AND 5200 CONVERTER . IT IS IN A 84 MUSTANG . BEST RUN AT LAPEER DRAGWAY IS 10.02 WITH A 1.48 60 FT .
MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE INTAKE TO RUN ON THIS COMBO . IT HAS 14 TO 1 COMP 280 290 @50 800 800 SOLID ROLLER ON A 112 . 4.600 BORE 4.25 STROKE AND 6.535 RODS . WE AR RUNNING BRODIX BB2X HEADS ORIGINALLY A REHER MORRISON HEAD BUILT BY BRODIX FOR REHER. WE ARE RUNNING A VICTOR OVAL PORT INTAKE GASKET MATCHED TO OUR REC PORT HEADS .
WE RUN BEST SHIFTING AT 7000RPM COMING OFF TBRAKE AT 5500. WE ARE RUNNING A 1150 DOMINATOR CARB JETTED AT 97 SQUARE WITH NO PV .
THE OWNER AND BUILDER IS THINKING OF RUNNING A PROFILER INTAKE BUT I THINK MAYBE A SUPER VICTOR WOULD BE BETTER.
ANY THOUGHTS OR PROOF GUYS WOULD BE HELPFUL.
HE RUNS 137 BEST MPH AT 10.02
THANK YOU

i just had a 565ci built with bb2 heads ( with ton of hand port work) i have a victor 454-r matched..15 to 1 compression..
my engine guy said my 565ci will have more torque with the heads and intake i used..this was OK with me since i run the 1/8...TQ IS kING in 1/8th...

i used this victor cause i had it matched to the heads already plus it has a ton of Plentum work done.... i have heard GREAT things about the Profiler..but some say its for bigger engines 600+ci or if your running an exotic head on your 565ci like a 12 degree profiler etc...I DUNNO :?: ..I know what their web-site says

Just curious..what does your Mustang weigh ?..My camaro (3100lbs) with a 12 to 1 compression 511 ci ran mid 5.90's in 1/8.. which should be in the lower 9.60's in 1/4...

with this new 565ci if i do not run 5.60's in the 1/8 and 9.20 range in 1/4 i will be disapointed. ( all motor )

Curtis can tell you a little more on this subject i would bet.

WE FIGURE IT WEIGHS ABOUT 3000 BUT THAT ALL GUESS. WE HAVE YET TO WEIGH IT.
WE NEED TO GET TO BETTER TRACK AND TEST IT LIKE MILAN.
I STILL FELL THAT A OVAL PORT INTAKE PORT MATCH IS JUST A PROBLEM. I THINK THE ENGINE STRUGGLES TO PULL ENOUGH AIR THRU INTAKE AT 6000 + RPM.
HE HAS PLENTY OF PORT SPEED DOWN LOW BUT WITH 565 CUBES IT SHOULD SUCK ALL THE VOLUME OF AIR IN THE SMALL OVAL RUNNERS OUT.
IF IT WAS A 454 WITH SMALL CAM AND BIG REC PORTS ID SAY LET RUN AN OVAL PORT BUT THIS ENGINE HAS THE CUBES TO RUN A NICE REC PORT INTAKE.
WE ARE CURRENTLY LEANING ON THE SUPER VICTOR CNC VERSION.
THANK YOU

The super victor is great. The Brodix 2001 is also a good one. I thought you had a oval port intake like the profiler for conventional heads (oval) which is a very large oval. I like all of these intakes and my experience on the first two has been almost identical. I lean toward the Brodix if the area under the carb is ported just below the cast in spacer. It sounds to me that you do have some kind of a problem tho, that thing should be shredding the tires and running low 9s. I have almost the same engine but in a 2400lbs car and it runs 5:teens in the eighth with a 4:30 gear and a 32inch tall tire. It has seemed to me in the past that when a conventional head gets to big that they really stop giving anything back in return. I am about to try the 3x oval cnc Brodix in the next few weeks to see if they perform better than the bb-2 that are on it now. They are hand ported but they are only 340cc.

You may need a 6000 stall converter to really make that thing wake up off the line. Big cylinder heads hate being lugged down below the torque curve.

454R Intake would be perfect, you should be in mid 9's with that combo when all is right. The 454R is even a good out of box intake.

I got a out of the box stock 454R with the 4150 flange on my 540..I use a 1050 dominator so it hasd the funel adapter. It is 13 to 1 with a smaller cam than you have, with out of the box 2X heads ..works well.
