Go to a set of scales and weigh the tow vehicle, then go back with the trailer and have just the tow vehicle on the scales and see what the difference is.

Default Tongue weight

John

Tongue weight as I know it is the weight that the receiver sees from the trailer. Reese hitches with weight transfer bars are much different.

With the trailer loaded go to a truck scale, put just the tongue on the scale using the support jack at the front of the trailer tongue. Detach the truck and drive it off the scale. Lower the tongue to the height of the tongue when attached to the truck. then get the weight from the scale operator.

If you do not have a front jack, you will need to block the tongue up at the point where it attaches to your tow vehicle.

You will need to find a business that will allow you to tie up their scale for a bit.

I've always heard 60% front 40% rear from the first axle, this should give you the correct tounge weight.
