Default Powerglide and rear gear?

With a three speed trans and a 14x31 rear tire we run a 456 rear gear running an eighth mile. I am changing to a powerglide with 176 low gear will i need to change the rear gear? If so what gear do i need? I have good parts in the engine rpm's up to 7500 don't bother me.I know the converter will make a lot of difference but just looking for some advice. Thanks

I'd worry more about the converter than gear....Although my last setup I was running 5.14's.......

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you are looking to take hit away from the car, I would look at 4.10 or 4.30. If you are looking for ET, the 4.56 should be fine. My concern is the 1.76 depending on weight and how hard it's hitting. Nothing wrong with the 1.76 but it will eventually fail. I would look more at 1.80 straight cut.
