Not sure about the compound but I would like to say my truck weight is 2750 and a Stiff sidewall slick works great. I had always thought they were for heavier cars but they do work great at 2750..Just a thought.

Go with the stiff sidewall, M/T told me the soft (regular) sidewall tires are for light cars with no rear suspension . I like the Mickey Thompson. They are real consistant and I get a bunch of passes out of them. The 31x14x15 will be the M/T part number 3074S and that's a stiff sidewall L8 compound. Follow M/T's instructions for checking/correcting rollout BEFORE you do the 1st burnout with them. With the weight of your car you'll probably start with around 6 lbs of air.

I run a 32 x 14 goodyear stiff sidewall on my Nova it is 2820 without me and 3050 or there abouts with my fat butt in it.Mine works good with 8 -10 pounds but I have never tried lower than 8 psi.
