What Fuel Pressure
I replaced a regulator on my 350 sbc, stock bore and stroke, 11-1 compresson and really good heads. The regulator came set at 7lbs. Is this enough pressure? The regulator is a bypass regulator. The pump is a holley blue pump.

I use a set pressure using a blocking regulator at a touch under 7 PSI for most all applications. Off road will like lower pressure, maybe 5.5 to 6 PSI to prevent flooding in hill climbing sports etc.
The use of By pass regulators should only be used with belt driven pumps and some front mounted fuel systems that have huge capacity Weldon type pumps.

Being somewhat of a novice, I agree with what you have to say. I was quite surprised by this tec telling me a bypass regulator would protect my engine. The regulator is set for 7lbs so it should not hurt anything, I hope. I'm going to rebuild and bump up the hp on this engine this winter. At that time I may replace the fuel pump.
