Well, technically it is graffiti if someone painted it there on their own without permission. I know I'll get blasted but if someone decided to paint a big American flag on the side of a Church or school or something...or a house, would you expect it to stay up just because the ones putting it there were patriotic?

I have to agree w/ Tod on this one- I did not see this as a malicious or a political related statement (removing the flag). It was a unique scenario however; as most "graffiti" is trashy wanna-bee gang jargon. Wouldn't it be great if all graffiti was patriotic??? It is neat to see that citizens actually called in to express how they liked it there!!

I agree with both of ya. HOWEVER,....it would have been nice to see CALTRANS grow some balls and work with the artists to keep the mural up and maintained. In this 'all are equal and the same' Progressive society we live in, it is ZERO tolerance for ALL.....

Don't get me wrong...I think if that many people wanted it to stay it should stay...just pointing out it technically is grafitti.
