Default TH400 Shifter linkage

I have a th400 and Hurst quarter stick. Manual valve body reverse pattern. The shifter shaft going in the side of the tranny has play that keeps me from adjusting the shifer.

At first I thought I adjusted wrong, PRN12 were good, but no 3rd gear. Readjusted and had to go to reverse to get neutral. The shifter arm on the tranny is tight and moves tight with the shaft.

I was told to drop the pan and filter and tighten a 9/16 nut on the shifter shaft where it goes through the case and that will fix it.

Can anyone confirm this before I waste time and do something stupid?

Steve

Default

I dropped the pan and sure enough, three flats to tightenup the nut that holds the cam plate tight to the shifter arm.

Back in business.
