I googled it after it was mentioned in this thread....I never knew they DIDN'T have 83 Corvettes.

1983 Corvette

Officially, There were no 1983 Corvettes. There were forty seven 1983 Corvettes made but none were ever sold. The National Corvette Museum has the only 1983 known at this time. The new Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY closed in October of 1982 to begin retooling for the 1984 Corvette. Production began in January of 1983 and the press received their first view of the 1984 Corvette in January of 1983. In February, the first production 1984 Corvettes were sold to the public. In March of 1983, the 1984 Corvette officially went on sale in the United States, except for California and a month later, in April, the 1984 Corvette went on sale in California. By October of 1983, the plant was in full speed production.

I did have an opertunity to drive a 84' Vette... had the "4+4" trans I think?? it was... was... like diving a not so really fast car as long as a station wagon that holds 2 people. I scraped the cowling on a curb I remember... long nose & I did not judge it right.

Now a 1983 Drag Car.... now we are talkin'. "1983" was the penicle of meritocracy (dont know if that is spelled right) MARGINAL not so good cars... & trucks for that matter. Let's name a few: K cars, Ford Fairmonts, Crysler Cordoba, my girl friend (blonde) had a 1983 Toyota Tercel which was a triangle with 4 wheels, Was the GRANADA gone by 83??? We had the Buick front wheel drive vechiles with crappy V6 bombs, Can't forget the Omni, "Rampage" & Mirada... talk about some real barn-stormers. Good times 1983... good times.

I don't remember, but I have a pic of it somewhere. I think it was the newer one.

Chevettes were made up until 87...they were ugly as hell but you couldn't tear them up.very durable and economical car.

Man that guy hasn't been back on here to let us know if it sold or he still has it. I wonder if he would be interested in a trade? I know trade value will be higher. But then again how much can an '83 drag car with too much to list be worth. I have a hay burnin' quarter horse i'd like to be rid of.LOL
