Carb size help???
I have a mud truck that I run in the woods to play around. I have a 505 bbc, iron heads 10.1-1 compression. I cant really remember the cam specs. I have about 560 hp and 580 ft lbs of torque. Im runing rockwell axles which have 6.79 gears. I have an old holley 750 double pumper that flowed 830 cfm when i dynoed the motor. I bought it used from an ole school drag racer. The dyno guy said there had been alot of work done to the carb and didnt really like it, but after the dyno said it performed good. That was about a year ago. Now im looking at getting a new carb for my motor. I have had a few different suggestions such as another 750 or a 1050. some say the 750 will perform better at low end. My max rpms are 7000. My horsepower peaked at 4400 rpm. I think I need more low end power due to the 54 inch boggers im trying to turn in thick mud. I ease around on the trails for awhile then when we get to the mud holes its wide open. I would like something reliable for putting around and wot. From time to time we do get at a pretty bad angle side to side or even front to back and i notice my truck floods out alot easier than some of the other ones i ride with and they run the same carb.I like the 750 that im running now but wandering if now that im buying something new should I go ahead with a bigger carb since its not much money difference, and the posibility of when this motor goes down i will prolly go to a 540 maybe. any suggestions would be appriciated

A buddy of mine took a piece of 1/4" aluminum line and connected the overflow tubes to prevent fuel from spilling over on steep hills... You have to drill about 4 holes in the top to allow the carb to vent...
