It's funny you mention that. I've been kicking the idea around of building a 582 and have run about every combo I can think of through my saftware. But unless you can get a set of heads flowing upwards of 480 or so there's not much more power to be had over a 565. The 582 had just a bit more torque due to the longer stroke but hp was within 5 of the 565. So I have just about decided on a 565 unless Curtis can pull a bunch of air out of his butt with a set of conventional heads. The Edelbrock heads I've been talking to him about flow around 450 so it's close but those same heads wake up the 565 as well.

Decisions, decisions.

This is 2nd time I've done the switch first time I lost .10 with weight and suspension both. I have a few other things to get it faster, changing from the 34.5's back to the 33.5 hoosiers .04 there, conv is stupid loose because the car wouldnt go straight/hook at any track. 6800 stall falls back to 6200 and sits there for .50-52 seconds after shift, I have a 6200 TSI 9" spragless to put in it. It went 4.67@147 in 3200ft of air and 91 degrees. Could be the most tire shaking/spinning car I've ever drove, hope the suspensions take care of this issue which I am sure it will. I'd like to settle it back in around 4.75@145

i tell ya what George..these boys running the 565ci i mentioned above and impressive as heck..as you know i am not much for particpating in bracket racing but i do attend and hang out with the guys..i see these 565's making rounds after round, after round...and really consistant.
my cousin purchased the PAR 565 and ran it in a 3000lb 67 nova with driver and ran consistant 5.60's with a low et of 5.58..on gas and all motor. ladder bar ,small tire car..

if somehting happend to my 511 i hope it happens early next year cause i will go with a 565 shortblock and use my conventional heads..on alcohol of course..lol

So yes i say 565ci with conventional heads for sure !

The only way i could get rid of tire shake with the new car is the 34.5 tires . Get a Hughes 9" softhit conv. It hooks consistantly and picked me up 4 hundreds over the loose GM-95

No replacement for Displacement right ?

the 565's run good, but almost every 582 around here out runs the 565's by a good tenth. I've seen APD put a 1950lb american with, oval port bb3x's go 7.21 .

Davis I think the 4 link will help this I have a set of 34.5's just in case not. Its hard to make a 225" Car made for a small block hook on a hot track with the big block. It sure was ill to drive.

The Coan 6800 is a softhit also, I have a few conv's sitting on the shelf to try good thing for early spring testing
