shortening a factory driveshaft

Default shortening a factory driveshaft

have a 64.5 x4 inch alum shaft out of my dsl pickup and am wondering if it will hold up to getting it shortend up 7inches to the same length i have in my s10 now. not a lot of pwer now, but want room to get more hp later.

should hold up fine... get the HD u-joints put in it too :wink:

thanks for the replies. now just have to check the driveshaft shop that made my last one to se if they do aluminum ones or not. by good joints, should i get the spicer solids(that i usually use) or can i use the precision brand. i see they are owned by moog.

as long as they dont have the grease fittings.... that usually the weak point and where they fail

i agree. this is goin to be a winter time change as I've not been doing any racing as my puller engine went down.
