Fresh Motor Break in??
Hello All
So this is my first motor that i had freshened up and am NOT putting it on a dyno before i go out.
This motor has new rings, cam, valve springs, lifters main brgs
Should i use one of the numerous break in oils? Is there some procedure i should follow?
Thanks
Keith.

I've always run the same oil I intend to run after break-in. Fire it up, turn the idle up to around 2500 and let it run for about 20 minutes. Check for leaks, check the timing, adjust idle speed & mix, check and adjust valves, take it to the track and let it fly! No easy "break-in" passes. It'll break in better if you just run it full out......I'd change the oil & filter after the first day at the track and maybe cut the filter apart to inspect. Some will change the oil after the initial run-in. It's really a preference thing. JMO
