Default Howards Racing Camshafts (HRC) aluminum rods, anyone used?

I just bought a set of Howards Racing Camshafts aluminum rods, 6.800 BBC journal, off of another forum. The rods are new but look different than other aluminum rods I've seen. They're not the polished look but more of a dull/rough kind of finish. They look fine but I can't find any info about them online. Chris

Call Competition Products and talk to Butch Patterson. CP bought out Howard years ago. Howard rods were always dull in color.

Just check the big and small ends to make sure they are good. Ed is right they have a dull finish to them. Very nice rods for the $$$ What are you building with them?

Ha Ed, how do you know Butch?

Been dealing with and tallking with Butch for many years from time to time. It is refreshing to talk with a machinist/engine builder when you are ordering engine parts. Butch is pretty sharp.

Good to hear on the rods! I bought them from a guy that bought them a while back new but never used them. Got em for $700, they look nice but I've never seen a rod with that finish so I was worried about it. Building a blown alchohol injected 528 Ford going in a 65 Fastback tube chassis car. Can't wait to get this thing done! Chris
