I don't run one before the pump. :wink:
I've seen it first hand (atleast with a 8an earls in line filters after pump) they can cause a bit of restriction. I quit running filters and use a outterwears filter when pumping fuel now.

u see Aeromotive, they suggest associate degree alcohol one hundred fifty steel mesh filter before the pump and a paper forty mesh filter before the carb. i assume everybody did not move to an equivalent filter faculty in school.
I simply use the one hundred fifty mesh before the pump. Not an excessive amount of restriction, nonetheless keeps out any larger debri from reaching to the needle and seat on a carb.
