A friend and a guy that built several dragster for us would have his wife come to the track once a year or every other year. I will never forget when he brought out his new 250 slip joint T/D car. His wife said to him, " Honey, when did you get that car?" He said," I built it over the winter." After the 1st run she said, " Honey, what happened to 8.20's and 160 mph?" He said, " 6.80's at 200mph sounded a little funner."
Needless to say, she did not come back to the track the rest of the year. LOL.

Any suggestions? What about headers, collector length etc. I hate to lose the zoomies, they look cool, and they sound gooood! Second you're running a s/blk, they require RPM, shift it at 6800 atleast, leave as high as you can. I leave at 4800 with a 5500 converter. I run 5.43 gears with a 3200lb car 1.41 60' and run 124.85 1/4 with 14X32 tires. someone told me about 1 hr ago i can't run the QTR. with 5.43 gears, i said come watch. What RPM am i crossing the finish line, i don't know, probably 7500/7800, but it's still there for next round if i win.
Headers are o'k at 1 7/8 with a 406".

The converter is a 52-5600 stall, TCI I think. Can not remember, I have a bad case of CRS. Stall #s are correct though. It stalls at 5550 on the brake, trouble was, last year I started having trouble with the brake not holding on the line when stomping the loud peddle. Sooo i been footbraking it. I generally red light when i use the brake anyway. Yes, I can spell delay-box! i may have the brake problem fixed, thanks to you guys here in the forum. Dumbas# attacks kept me chasing my tail most of last season. Not to make excuses, new engine, new fuel, new induction, huge case of brain farts, all my own fault mind you, I was a mess. This year I AM going to sort this out, I shall not settle for less. My typing finger is sore, is it possible to have carpel tunnel finger syndrome?THANKS EVERBODY!

Gear combos for the 1/4?

Can't run 5.43's in the 1/4, HMMM?
Well, 20 years ago, my ChevyII, 336ci, Lunati roller, 750 carb, Brodix heads, steel crank, steel rods, speed pro pistons, TCI powerglide, 8" converter, 3300 lb car w/driver, 5.67 rear gear, 14x32's ran 10.90's @ 122 all nite long. Ran that combo for about two seasons before we quit racing. It would run 6.7's in the 1/8. Still have it all.
I'll give an even more insane combination. In the late 70's, I ran a stock 67 Mustang, used a good top loader 4 speed, had a Weber pressure plate, Hays clutch, Weber 50lb flywheel, 57 Ford 9" rearend with a 5.67 gear. It ran low 8's in the 1/8 mile with 10.5x 28 slicks. Car left hard, did run out of rpm on the high end, LOL!
I plan to do a somewhat similar set up with a later model Mustang, only plan to use an automatic with a 9/10" converter, if I can ever score one I like. Probably dial the gear back a bunch, don't believe the 8.8's go quite that deep, yet.
