Default Oil pressure drop

I am not new to racing junk but am new to the forum. Yesterday I was crusing my 68 Nova, temp got up to 210 and I noticed a severe oil pressure drop at idle. PSI went down to 20. Normal at idle is 40 psi. Motor is with only 6000 miles. 383 stroker. I brought it home and parked it. I will look at it today. I did however check oil level in car after I parked it in the garage and it was at a normal level, full.

As I would increase the gas pedal to get home the guage would up to between 60 and 80.

WAs i running to hot and therefore the oil PSI dropped? I will check coolant level, guage, and fan today just to make sure they are all functioning and at proper levels.

many years ago we had a pro built 383 drag engine built for my sons camaro, 2nd trip to the track we seen the oil pressure drop just like yours, shut it off took it home pulled it apart everything was good, long story but it all had to do with our great FRAM oil filter, then i went online and read some really bad stuff needless to say i will never use them again, not even sure you use a fram, just a thought, good luck with your engine.

Its been my experience that when temps go up oil temp does too, and thins out.
When oil is thin and hot you will get low pressure. Ever notice when you first
start a cold engine, or change oil that the pressure is always higher. You might
have a problem but more than likely its just normal for high temp.
