Default E85 spark plugs

I am about to start getting ready to race currently running E85. The motor is a 12.6 to 1 383 sbc with Dart pro 1 heads I have NGK R5672A plugs in the motor now should I try a different heat range? I would like to see if I have a little more power left in the motor I think I do. Going to do a header change soon but that will wait a couple months. The carb is a 850 Holley converted to E85 by quick fuel. Just thinking of trying a few things different since I will be able to race more than a couple times this year. The car is a footbrake bracket 1/8 mi car.

I use NGK 8's, the head/mfg. people recommend 9's for alcohol, but i found that 8's burn cleaner with my alcohol and toilet bowl engines, i don't know about an alcohol carb or E85 though. I do run NGK 9's with the blower motor.

As you know the lower the #/number with NGK the hotter the plug.

Mine are 9s I thought they were too cold I use to run alky but that has been a while I know I have changed plugs since then but for the life of my I dont know why I used such a cold plug. I think I will try 7s and see what happens I really thought I had 8s in the motor until I pulled a couple last night after I posted.

I run 7's with gas or E85 up to 14.5 to 1, my 15.5 to 1 engine runs 8's.

Do you guys have any problem getting NGK local? All the major parts chains around here list them but I called and gave them the part number and they told me it didn't exist.one even claimed to have checked NGKs web site. My local speed shop was also no help it's gone way down hill the last 5 or 6 years. My brother is building a 5.0 ford and the speed shop doesn't sell gaskets for older engines anymore. Things have turned bad when nobody has fel pro gaskets for one of the most popular engines out there. We both ended up having to order from jegs.

R57671A-7 at .028-.030. For a projected nose plug like you are running use a C63YC Champion.
