Damaged: 1939 Ford Standard coupe
[b]
I built my 39' Ford in 1989 and it has the regular modernized updates Small block, TH350, R&P, 9"...etc. Well, some gal hit the back of it at a red-light which pushed me into the vehicle in front. The rear was pushed in enough to bend the frame and squash the gas tank, ruined the rear body panel and bent the fender and the section it bolts to. In the trunk (No lid damage) the tool tray is bent on the right side. Up front, the fenders are dented the grille is to...slightly. The radiator is OK but the solder let go and the bracket is loose, but the core is fine. My insurance co. says $6,800.00 in damages, I think it's a bit more and hired a lawyer. I expect to make decent money on my injuries.
The body is in primer, I was going to paint it by the end of the summer.
So... I may sell it after I make a settlement, what do you think it's worth?
If I can't get enough after the settlement to buy a finished car, then I'll repair it.
PS: The car can be driven, I by-passed the gas tank and have a 1 gallon gas can mounted to feed gas.

I assume a 39 Ford coupe? "6,800" sounds like a joke. I have seen 39/40 coupes go for a pretty penny... one of my favorites (my dad had a few).
Here is one thought that crossed my mind: Make a Gasser out of it. Sounds plenty salvageable & who doesn't love a 40 Ford Gasser!!!
Send some pics if you can... hope it all works out. Scooter
