A whole bunch of years ago, at Boise's Firebird Raceway, we had a local alky funny car do a burnout on the return road heading TOWARDS a grandstand. Throttle stuck and the rest is history. One death and SEVERAL permanently disfigured spectators. DUMBDUMBDUMB.........................

My experience with a Blown Alcohol Altered with 125" WB says that you need a lot of room to do a burnout or a start. With a 100" AA/FA, you need 40 acres . . Over the years I've watched as the AA/FA's were run in classes and then had their own, eventually becoming match racing shows . . which were fun and exciting (to say the least), but you really wondered why anybody (with the exception of Willy Borsch) would get in one of the damned things more than once . .
And "Progress" hasn't done anything to make 'em go straight. even 2000 HP in something that short and light makes them, to say the least, "Unweildy" . .
So a burn out on a 16' wide road was a bad idea to start with. Around trees and a ditch? Almost a death wish . .

Come on guys, where are you B*LLs, i'm in the process of building a 1948 Anglia with a 383 1471 blown alcohol engine, i have the chassis built already. I did stretch the chassis from 88" to 92", i fully intend to drive it myself. Now at 73 yrs old i'll probably 74 before it goes down the track. I was running over 140 mph in 1965 with 102" blown car, no fear. But with the Anglia i only plan to run 1/8 mi. Will it be scary :?: probably but that what racing is all about. HA! Maybe i'll enlist BJ's cousin Scotty Cannon to drive it (NOT) there's no way i will spend $30,000 plus in a car and not drive it myself.
No kidding, reality
Zip.
