Default lean condition

Say if you were running a blown alcohol sbc what kind of EGT's and characteristics would you find this may sound stupid but I know you can run a motor lean so lean that it won't really make any power or hurt its self! Just having a little problem getting my car to really make any power

Dont have an EGT set up on my car but what would be a good reading on a single EGT in each header?

Well I have fattened it up a bunch and now have the biggest jets I own in my carbs and the motor is still running 185 degrees still seams to be a little to hot with alcohol to me. Motor was wantn to run over 200 be for. I have jumped the jets up a lot. But I think my EGT gauge isn't worth a crap it still reads the same and I've picked up over 1/2 second. I would think the actual EGT would have changed.

Is the motor idling high? Are you sure you did not suck an intake gasket?
