Default sunoco

I live in the chicagoland area, I have been playin with cars a while, we had a Sunoco gas station next to a local high school, it had a dial that you could rotate to choose the "grade" of fuel, I think ours went to 260 ? but pretty sure that was not the octane rating , and really not sure what the number actually meant. I do remember those "happy days"

I lived in Streamwood Il. in the mid 60's and there was a Sunoco station on Irving Park rd. that had the rotating/pick your octane The 260 was actually close to 108 octane. At the time i was running a 671 Blown sm/blk Chevy w/hilborn inj. in a 1956 T'bird and i used the 260 grade from Sunoco, also set a world record in 1966 in (AHRA) A/Modified Sports at Oswego dragway with the car.

Zip.

Before my time.
The first racing gas I really remember was Cam II or Turbo Blue. I think Cam II was $3.25 or $3.50 a gallon back then.
