truck exhaust
I got a 1994 gmc 1500 with the 4.3L v6. It's got a cat back exhaust system on it that y's about a foot past the muffler. Right before it y's at the connector it has cracked and is barely holding together right now. I don't have much money right now so I was just going to pull everything from the muffler back off and just spend a couple bucks on a turndown to put right after the muffler until i get enough money to get a new exhaust system. I was wondering how it would sound though, I don't want it to sound like some POS or anything, I want it sounding good. And will the truck perform any different? Also are there any disadvantages to doing this?

All I know about the muffler is that my uncle who owns a NAPA store gave it to me for $20, it didn't have any name or any markings on it except which way the flow goes, and it's a 3 in. inlet and outlet. The original exhaust system didn't have a muffler and wouldn't pass inspection with out it so I just threw it on real quick. I wanted to take the muffler off but didn't have the pipe to fill it in with, I live in Maryland so it doesn't have to be inspected again.
