Whats
SFI approved means they were submitted to be tested by SFI for a spin test to 11,000 RPM and passed.
The Chinese ones are marginal in my opinion. Professional Products is one that comes to mind. Pro Form, Pro Comp are also Chinese made products.
Some of the good AMERICAN ones are made by ATI, Fuiddamper, TCI Rattler.
Also I use the SFI approved PRO RACE brand, which is made in New Zealand and is less $$ than the 3 above.

Some of the differences people don't consider when buying a cheaper units hub bore sizing, hub od/seal area, did the quality control wander after SFI approval. If buying one of the fluid style is the quality of the fluid up the the task, is the rubber on the standard style of good quality. In my opinion this is a bad area to save money in.

Even if you have to save up for it, it's better to spend the money on a good one than save a buck or two and get cheap parts. The Professional Products ones like to come apart when you least expect them too. Seen a few already, and at rpms well below the sfi threshold. Like markdunlap said, ATI, Fluidampr, and TCI Rattler are all good ones. I run the Rattler myself, but that's just preference. ATI's rep speaks for itself, as does Fluidampr.
