If you have a good blk and a good rotating assy, plus heads there's almost no limit. 16 to 1 is not uncommon. Alcohol loves compression. Look at it this way, the blown alcohol dragsters and funny cars are running as much as 13 to 1 and running 50% overdrive on the blowers. I was running 13 to 1 with a good 1471 blower in the mid 80's at 40% overdrive. Blowers are better now and parts are better today. Normally asperated probably 15 to 1 would be a good cut off point, and don't forget to reduce the timing, i was running 26* in those days.
