Default motor mounts on 80 pontiac

ok so i bought some new motor mounts for my 80 t/a and the holes to mount them on the chassis dont line up, it is my understanding tht the gm mounts stayed the same on all models. does anyone have a clue as to why they dont line up???????

NOT TRUE. At least not completely.

I do not know about 1980 but in the 68-74 Novas at least, the frame brackets were different in a Big Block Car than they were in a small block car. I would guess the bolt patern was probably the same but I know the mounts themselves were different.

ALSO the frame mounts in a 68-74 Nova are NOT the same as the frame mounts in a 68-72 Chevelle.

it was a small block car to begin with, it had a turbo 301 in it, and on the frame there are three threaded holes but they do match up to any of the four mounting holes on the mount,
is it possible to just drill it out to mount it or just weld it

Yes, you could ,but it would be easier to just get the right mounts.

Make sure you get them in the right spot to avoid any issues with header clearance etc.

should be 2 sets of holes in chassis so BOP or chevy could be installed nand if mounts are the right year then they should bolt through the years gm used 2-3 types and styles of mounts

Chevelle mounts and nova mounts of the same year 68-72 are NOT the same. One has 4 bolt holes one has 3. Maybe they were all the same in 1980, that I can't say. However, I know that what I stated about the 68-72 is true because I have one of each. So to say that as long as you have the right year mount it will work is not necessarily true. Also, both of my cars are different than my fathers 67 El Camino.
