i was wondering about the different styles of parachutes. stroud and cross form. i read a little but i would like to from someone using them . Thanks Rich
Not really. It depends on the weight and speed. My dragster only weighed 1500lbs and ran around 150. It hit harder than my Vette with the same size & style chute at 2222lbs and 158mph....neither felt particularly hard to me.
I use two Stroud chutes. They are designed to open softer than cross form chutes. They have a spring launcher and are real easy to pack. There is a good article on Dragstuff.com written by Bob Stroud about the differences in the two designs. http://www.dragstuff.com/techarticles/parachutes.html
