Default building a new car, need ideas

Im putting together a 1975 MG Midget. its on a tubed chassis, 4 link, narrowed 9", top fuel roll cage, and wheelie bars. it has been extended 18" to get my feet away from the motor. i am not looking to out run the world, i just want something different that i can take to test and tune night and stand strate up in the air and have a good time with. On to me delima....i want my motor combination to be different and head turning as well. This has me confused as to what i want to do. absolutely any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris Davis

Since you don't have a lot of room in the engine compartment, why not consider a Turbo Buick V6. If that motor can get a mid sized Buick into the 13's, who knows what it'll do in a lighter car.

Pump up a 2.3 Ford 4banger. 5 mains, cross flow head, and can spin 9 to 10 grand !
TONS on mini stock race parts for that engine are available !

Ok I'll chime in.....
Well any motor will do so long as its a v8!!!!

I seen a stout a$$ Robert Yates headed ford 351 windsor motor this weekend, thing looked like a big block ford but it was a SBF.

Ran consistent 550's in the 1/8 in a back halved mustang, I was impressed.
It was definetly something different.

these are all exactly what im looking for. thanks very much. were looking at a small block chevrolet platform to start off with. the car weighed 1400 pounds before we started cutting on it so i assumed that a good gust of wind would make it haul. i have also herd good things about supera, and skyline turbo motors in s-10's so that might not be such a bad idea.

Yep, I have heard some good things about the Supra motor too... I know that the bottom end is good to about 500HP on the turbo model. This is according to a friend how races one w/ a stock bottom end... he claims he is in the 12's & pretty stock. Anyways, cool idea on the midget. It will certainly fly w/a V8 no doubt.
