Default which headers and heads sbc combo

I don't know enough about flow# but I know using a flat tappet has its limitations, so using only a flat tappet what heads, headers, and modifications would you use with the current combo for an improvement:

383 sbc,hooker super comp 1 3/4 #2131 headers,comp .558 550,260,266 at .050,108 on 104 icl,13.6-1,dart iron eagle 215 platinums,2.05 1.6 valves bowl blended and port matched to a 2925 super victory,alky 810 carb,power glide,4.56 gears,4800 convertor,3100 lb car.This is a 1/4 drag car.

Those are some good numbers no doubt. 10.30's aint nothing to sneeze at.

BUT:

Comp Cams makes a 630/630 solid roller, with this cam I wouldn't be afraid to say that you'd be well into the 9's.

I don't know Charles, i spent a $1,000.00 to go to a solid roller and only gained 1/10, going from a .595 flat to a .624 roller on gas. He's got a good combo i'd stick with it. Not many cars can run 10.30's with a 383 @ 3100 lbs.

Well dont tell me John, tell him - He's the one not content running 10.30's not me>?

But as far as your cam change? It just goes to show, some tenths cost more than others and that you never know what works till you try it, right?
I'm sure it wasnt the first time you made a change and didnt gain much, I know it's happened to us all at one point or another.

Charlie you wouldn't believe the mistakes i've made changing this and that, Bullit actually made the recomendation, and i know the people at Bullit. Both cams were Bullit, but i guess the engine combo was more suited for the flat tappet cam. It was a junk 406" with track 1 heads, and it wound up breaking a rod bolt which killed the motor.
