Default Team G on a 496 Thumbs up or down?

Hey as most of you guys know I am a die hard Small block guy, but I just picked up a Big block. I am seeking a little advise on it.

Its a 496 with GM 990 heads that have been opened up a little. It has a .720 roller in it. 14:1 compression. 1050 Dom. Its going in my backhalf Nova that will weigh about 3100 with me in it. Should be shifting around 6600 and go through about the same maybe 6800 depends on what converter I get. Prob going with about a 5800 stall 8" This motor went 9.70's in a car very similar to mine.

My question is about the intake on here. It has a Weiand Team G intake. Is that as good as say a 454-R? I am not looking to set the world on fire, but if it would make a noticeable difference I would change it.

Thanks for your help......

Intake:

I just found another post about a team g and everyone said to toss it. I wonder what the hp difference is between them or what would be a good intake to use...

Yeah Josh, the 454R with a 1" spacer would wake it up. I ran that on my old 477 at 2870 lbs and went 9.70's all day long.

Thanks Beast. Ever try the Dart intake? It looks pretty serious.

Never tried the Dart. I've heard people say out of the box not so good they need work. I'm running a Brodix right now.

Dont mean to hijack your thread but I was thinking of trying the new sniper intake, wondering if anyone has run the Sniper intake? From what I've read in the magazines and on the dyno sheets it looks like a pretty killer intake.

My 427 has a dominator to 4150 adapter which is 2 & 1/4" flange to flange. It hits hard high, but has never been tested at the strip yet. We shall see hopefully this year; I have always liked the Dart too.

ASK BJUICE. If I remember correctly, a couple of years ago he swapped out a TEAM G for a 454R on his 511 BBC. I believe he said the 454R worked better.

Josh toss the team g for a 454R, if the motor is efficent you'll see gains for sure. I seen over a 2 tenth gain on a 468 in a dragster (8.20's to 8.0's)

Also avoid the dart and super victor out of box .. they arent so great
