Default 6.5 diesel

I have a 1998 GMC haul vehicle with a 6.5 GM diesel. Put a new drop in engine and at 5000kms it broke the crank? No warranty over 1 year Anyone have any idea why this would happen ? broke in two places near the front. The engine ran good then was just hard to start one day and knocked when shut off. anyone else experience this?

Thanks
Geo

Well from working on Cummins, Cat,Powerstroke, I would have to say a injector hung open hydrolocking cylinder, filing up with fuel, When you shut engine down it made a quick snap backwards breaking crank.
