Default need some advice.

I am considering trading my malibu roller for a 406 sbc . the owner gave me all the info on the engine and builder and I decided to call the engine builder and he denies building the engine says he sold the parts thats it?? The owner has shown me the reciets and work order. I have had a couple people tell me about this engine builder , he told me if I wanted a genuine ****** engine come and see him. the owner says the engine has just break in time on it. I'm very interested but dont wanna get a pos engine either. I dont wanna get hosed on this deal what should I do??

If it is that shady already I doubt it will get any better... If it was my deal I would pass on it...

Sometimes we build a partial engine for someone because thats what they wanted. We already know its going to be back because the owner is known to mess things up. This builder may simply not want his name and reputation on this motor now offered to you. Everybody thinks they are an engine builder 8) Just a thought

If you do it,Do it with the condition of an inspection of the engine with the pan off. That way you won't be on here saying "He said it was a 406 chevy and it turns out it's a POS

If he lied about who built it that's probably not the only thing he's lying about.

the man said I can inspect the engine as long as I buy the gaskets if I dont want it! sounded good to me then he sent reciepts to me for the build and I cant make heads or tales of these reciepts! he said it had a new callies crank with stock gm rods??? that made me scratch my head stock rods on a 620 hp engine. then I looked at the reciets and it said he had the crank turned????????????WTF! to many things dont add up!
