Default t56 transmission

info on the t56 trans? which years to use? does and donts? how much abuse and hp can they take? would a richmond 5 speed be a safer choice? any info and knowledge help?best clutch?best repair and service company for t56? im trying for 600hp street rod pro street very hard driver i do full throttle speed shifting but never seen a trans that doesnt emmediately start shifting hard and breakage. thanks for any help. i dont want to have to use a t400 auto.

heres the site for ratings and specs. high tq rated trans used the "viper" output shaft.

I have a full steel 55 Chevy street car with a 496 roller motor and a Borg Warner aftermarket T56 that was reworked with the high performance pieces. It has a 2.97 first and 4:11 rear. Trashed it. Maybe because of the weight, I don't know.
