Default BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a crankshaft through crankshaft specialties and a member jerry farmer aka gatorinva and it has been a very bad experience. The crankshaft was shipped to us in Tonawanda N.Y. and we took it to a very reputable machine shop here it has stress fractures all over it needless to say the crank is junk.No money will be refunded and doug rowe of crankshaft specialties says this does not take away from the integrity of the crank thats why he dont notify customers of stress fractures not even when they are putting it in a 2800hp pro modified...Be careful where you by your parts from

Default doug

I have bought from Doug and had good luck so far. Crankshaft Specialists is in the business of repairing crankshafts not making and selling new ones. Sounds like you got what you paid for, a 2500.00 crank for 1500.00 that was repaired. Some parts are better of being bought new, I have learned that the hard way also. Good luck on your pro mod.

I agree that some things are better bought new. I wouldn't buy a used crank or rods. Steer car yea, race car heck no! I'd be pretty peeeeeed off if I bought a crank that had stress fractures, but then again I want buy a used crank just for reasons like that.

Default Buying used for a 2800 HP motor?

I could'nt imagine buying a used crank for a 2800 hp motor? If I could afford to build A Motor like that I sure would'nt scrimp on one of the most important parts of the motor-Just an opinion ..

I would never deal with Crankshaft specialist again. Several years ago I sent a crank that I had bought new from them back to repair a damaged rod journal. The repair was supposed to include checking for cracks. 10 runs later it was broke. This crank was in an engine that made about 700 hp and was NA. Doug said he would make good on the deal but after he jerked me around for several months I filed a complaint with the BBB. At the time they were a BBB member in good standing. If you check now they not only aren't a member but they have a F rating. Although I will agree that trying to save money on a 2800 hp engine by purchasing a used crank may not be such a good idea I think it would be reasonable to think you're getting a good part if it was checked 1st. Crankshaft specialist screwed this guy.

"I bought a crankshaft through crankshaft specialties and a member jerry farmer aka gatorinva"

Did you buy it from Crankshaft Specialists or from Jerry Farmer?
