It's got a 496 bbc with a glide.. car is about 3100lbs with me in it.. I was aimed a little right on this pass. Not bad for a 100 humid as heII degree day.. Track was 154 degrees and it was brutal.. IT'll got low 6.0's or high 5.9's when the weather is decent..

Dam those are some good numbers coming from your nova.
If you dont mind, could you give me alittle more info on your motor and combo I.E cam, compression, carb, intake, gears, tiresetc.
I know of several 496's that are running as fast or faster than some 540's and up BBC's

Are you running any power adders?

I've got a N/A 496 BBC in a fairly light 69 camaro #2800lb
My best ET so far - 5.65 / 1.29 sixty - footbraking @ a tad short 1/8 mile track.

Can't find my papers on the cam and stuff but is has no power adders and has a set of aluminum GM heads that are reworked and matched to the intake and cam. The carb is a 1050 dominater. The tranny is a glide with a 1.76 plan and a 5800 stahl. I have a 9 inch ford with 5.38 gear and 14.5x32x15 Phoenix tire.. Best 60 ft was a 1.34 leaving at 3800 on the transbrake.. That was on a 100 degree, humid a$$ day with a 154 degree track temp.. Can
t wait for some good weather..

Yeah buddy, your car will surely get into the fives with better air and a cooler track. I predict 5.91 @ 120 something.

Hats off to ya'll's track prep guy though, it looked like you were hooking up pretty good for a track that hot.
I live in the south, believe me I know all about thick air, it's been so bad here last few weeks that the races arent starting till after 9pm.

Our combos are very similar except I have iron merlin heads and a bit more gear.
13 to1 srp's, 722 solid lunati, 1050 dom, dart intake, 176 glide and 558 gears.
Mine got it together one night ( the only night so far) the stars and planets must have been aligned cause it has never duplicated those numbers I quoted again.

It usually runs somewhere between 580's and 70's with short times in the mid to low 130's
I also have the phoenix 14.5x32's and I brag on them constantly, geat tires - I only wish I had gotten the wider 16's though.
Where you race at?

Its alittle more than I like Tod (7800 rpm) I want to try a 513, I'm thinking it might take some of the intial hit off the tires at launch making it hook better and possibly MPH & ET better, it definetly will be easier on the motor, several guys I've talked too say a 513 and a glide is just about perfect if you got some grunt in the motor and I'm thinking mine does.

I know of 2 guys at the track that have 513's and similar BBC set-ups and they dont have the hook spin probem that I've been having and they are both running in 560's, who knows though, it might make it worse or slow it down.
