Default Realigning spider gears

How do I realign the spider gears in an 8.5 in. gm 10 bolt posi. I inadvertantly rolled the differential when taking out the c clips to replace the axles and the spider gears rolled down, not out though. I had hoped when I put the new axles in I could roll it the other way and they'd go back:shock: NOT. Any positive info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Durf

If they did not rotate all the way out, they should roll back into place. I believe this rear end has cupped washers between the spider gear and the housing. One or both of these washers may be the binding problem.
Good Luck, Dave

Yes it does have the cupped washers, thanks I'll try that.
