Default story about my new dragster

ok guys,i've had this dragster a few months now trying to get it all together,it's a 2001 m&m 4 link 235" go to my profile to see it,,

i bought a 417 eagle roller motor from here RJ,,i finally got it to the track two weeks ago and guess what,it only ran a 6.05 yep 1700 lb 417 roller ran a 6.05,,so we flashed the converter and it would only flash 4600(5800 converter)so we no something is wrong,,,now keep in mind this is a brand new 417 eagle roller,i put the first oil in,,

so i take the motor out and take it all the way down to bear block,,[b]NO STEEL CRANK,NO DOME PISTONS,NO ROLLER CAM,NO ROLLER LIFTERS,so my friend has all this stuff i need,i put a 670 roller cam, roller lifters, brodix heads been angle cut pocket ported 2.08 valves, new cam, main, rod bearings, and now the dragster runs 5.50 were it was expose to be in the first place($2500 later)but now i need a 488 gear to get me out of the whole, with a gear and a little tuning i think it will run around 5.35(hope)

the motor was new,the parts was new, when they cleaned the motor they never took out the plugs(real smart)so thats why i had to put new bearings,,,,but the motor was not even close to what he said it was,,so i call him and tell him and he sends me $450 to me which i'm very thankful of,i know its not $2500 but every dollar helps,,,,the guy i bought the motor from i met half way from here(tn)was a real nice guy and i don't believe he lied to me,i think he was lied to by the motor builder,,so this is my story on my new ride

btw,my first pass was my fastest, pretty fast for the first time in a rail(125mph)

ad # 1562629 is my new dart pro one heads w/intake

sorry to hear that, its crazy how many people have no idea what they got from a motor shop. I trust my guys but a lot of them are out for making money only and not being honest and helping.

That's why I bolt my junk together myself...of coarse the power level isn't on par with a REHER Morrison, or PAR ,Nyes etc....because great engines are built not just bolted together from a jegs catalog like mine...BUT I know exactly what I have and have nobody to blame but ME if it goes boom.

thats what i was told LOL,,,it don't come out of the whole real good and about the time it hits second it shoots out like a rocket,,a friend has about the same dragster with a 488 and goes 5.30's and said his motor was nothing special,,it needs a little help coming on at first,i've always thought the gear was to little, but what do i know!!i think the motor is right, about 600 hp and pretty strong,,first pass was 5.50 @123 w/36 timing,,then 5.52 @ 125 w/36 timing, then 5.55 @123 w/40 timing

60-1.20
330'-3.53
594'-5.13
1/8-5.50
123mph

Which converter did ya end up with ?

What tire pressure do ya have in the rear ? If ya want some more et jump the shift up some, a lower shift point with increase finish line rpm also.
1.20 does seem pretty soft, but remember you have a car with a 4 link so you can make that work both ways. If your buddies car isnt a 4 link it will leave harder. I've been down this road a time or 2  let me know if you need any help.
