7AL-3 or Digital??
Most of you Guys that know My reg.Deal?Blown Alky.......
I'm Going a Different DIRECTION?
BBC,Normaly Asparated,MSD Ign.
Heres My ?
Just Got the New Car Home.
1968 Chevy II
BBC,496"15.1,Dart 345,Gary Williams GAS Dominator(That i would Like to Trade Off for some Alcohol INJ.)
The Car currently has a MSD 6AL Box,it runs Fine!But,i think it could Use more BOX...?
I was Thinking?
7AL-3,with a Trigger?
What do you Guys say?
I WILL NOT SPRAY the Motor,so do i Need a Digital Box,or is a Dig.Box just Plain the way to go,because of Programming???
Please Let the OPINIONS FLY?

I have heard of several that were sent back and had 2 7al3's go bad. I would go digital and not look back.

Hey Greg, I'm running a 7AL-2. This will be the 5th season no troubles and it was used when i got it.

I Used a 7AL,back when they 1st came out(Midto Late 70's)Worked Great,the 1st 1's didnt have a Limiter?If i Remember?They were just a 7AL,ido Not remember having any ISSUES?
Been using a Mallory Mag ever since...........!

If you were to start from scratch with the ign. I would have not used the 6al box myself. The 7al3 with a pro power coil and crank trigger is the vanilla / K-mart IGN of choice for me. The box gives you timing retards if you ever need them and a 2 step for launch and a burnout limiter for morons who can't keep of the chip in the box. I just had trouble last weekend with my IGN misfiring under load, but the coil was over 5 years old and the box is 8 years old. All IGN's malfunction and require replacement when you least expect it, or after you weld on the car with the IGN hooked up like I did. I have not used the digital stuff but all I am trying to do is fire the spark plug with reliable extreme voltage on time and the 7al3 works well for me.
