SCAT PRODUCTS OR NOT
LOOKING TO PURCHASE A BBC STROKER MOTOR FOR 90% STREET USE AND JUST WONDERING IF PURCHASING ONE WITH SCAT INTERNALS IS THE WAY TO GO. SEVERAL OF THE WELL KNOWN ENGINE COMPANYS APPEAR TO BE USING MORE OF THERE CRANKS THAN THEIR RODS OR PISTONS AND OF COURSE THERE PRICES REFLECT THIS. HEARD ALOT ABOUT EAGLE BOTTOM ENDS BUT WAS TOLD THAT SOME ASSEMBLIES COME FROM OVERSEAS COMPANYS AND ARE TOTAL JUNK. I AM ONLY ASKING SO I GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. ALSO WHAT ABOUT THESE 2 YEAR WARRANTIES THAT SOME OF THE WELL KNOWN BUILDERS OFFER. THANKS FRANK

Both Scat and Eagle are forged over seas and machined here in the states.
Scat has been on the scene along time, used to run that stuff in my VW.
I have forged Eagle internals in my BBC - everything was good, right out the box.
I don't think you'd go wrong with either, so long as you double check everything real good before assembly and get a good spin job.
Goodluck, Cp

Yes make sure you have them checked. Got two Eagles, one was bad enough it would have to go.010- .010 right out of the box and the other was .010 off on the stroke. So i went with a Callies Compstar. About $150.00 more. Areally nice piece. Just something to think about.

I bought my engine fo my altered from http://www.high-performance-engines.com/index.shtml No problems with it. It's basically a street car engine. It also comes with a 2 year warranty.

I have Eagle 4340 crank and rods in my 540 with no problems. Also, my 469 had Eagle 4340 crank and rods with no failures either. One of my friends bought a cheap $150 Eagle and had a lot of problems with that. Spend the extra money and buy the higher quality crank and rods.
