Default MSD Digital 6 Ignition or MSD Digital-7 Plus

I am building a blown bbc running on gas. My current ignition is a 6AL and I think I should probably update it. The Digital 7 is probably a better ignition but do I really need it? Do they use the same coil? Thanks.

I don't have any personal exp with the digital 7. But I do have a lot of time with the 7 AL3. The drag racing coil is the pro power coil for the 7AL3. My buddy uses the digital 7, I think that can use the same coil. I am not a racer that uses any automation in my cars. I find that the 7AL3 has everything that you could ever come up with that you have ever added to any other IGN type. The fire power of the 7al3 is only second to the 10 box, and has timing retard settings that you can switch on and off for your blown application with 12v switches. Check the MSD site to compare exactly what each box has for outputs. If the price is close I would opt for the 7AL3.
Some of the other guys on this site will be able give you the link to MSD from this site. I just wanted to get your question rolling so you could make a purchase.

I was mistaken, Hammertime is correct on the coil application.

also can add depending on what you needs are to use the box for, a digital 6 is a good box, I also do like the 7al3 its simple and easy no programming to do.
