Actually it's was designed to help on top end, as in creating a ram effect. The first time i ever saw one was at Rockingham in 1968, the first race they ever had, in fact the asphalt was still wet when we got there. There was a guy there that had a 427 ford super stocker, he was a tenth quicker than all the hot dogs, and i mean ford sponsered cars. The factory immediately protested the guy, but the protest didn't stand up since there were no rules covering that situation. That was on Sat. by sunday ever prostocker there was running one including Sox and Martin. It was funny to see a nobody showing up the factory teams. Incidently i was running B/Mod production class with a 67 Camero conv, we won the class, but got beat by a Sox and Martin car in the 3 rd round of elimination. We did run 10.93@ 126mph @ 3520lbs, not too bad a 100 yrs ago with mufflers. O'h how i loved those days, damn i was only 30 yrs. old then.

Zip.

The carb spacer has different ways it help different combos from what I have learned. The 4 hole spacer will improve the signal to the carb, so if you are running a big cam and big plenium intake with low vacuum signal it will help in that area, which in all honesty should show gains all the way down the track. The open spacer would effectivly increase the size of your plenium so in the caes that you had a combo that would benefit from a larger plenium intake it would help, and again should show gains all the way down.

A carb spacer is something that needs experimenting with, if you have a few different ones, take them to the track and make back to back runs with the different ones and see which one shows the most gain, some builders have seen as much as 30hp gain with one on the dyno, and some have lost that much also.

I think if a man had a very well sorted combo with a trick carb, there wouldnt be much to be had, but all of us arent fortunate enough to have that.

i ran a HVH super sucker on my 511ci..got my 565ci back last week from Par racing..i asked the owner Scott Duggins what he thought of the spacer and he Gave thumbs up !..as a matter of fact they make them at PAR..BUT SINCE I HAD THE hvh I AM GONNA TRY IT.

THE hvh really helped my 511ci. you could feel the responce in the pedal

I dynoed my motor which is a sbc with open 1 inch spacer and a hvh super sucker 4 hole 1 inch spacer and the super sucker lost 14 hp but down low it did gain about 3 or 4 torque...........just my expiernce..i really think that diffrent manifolds tend to act diffrently and my super victor didn't like it
