Default half filled Block on the street

Hello
Has anyone ran a filled block(up to the water pump) on the street?
BBC 10.2 block

Tried it and had trouble with oil temperature. water would run 190 and oil would go over 280 and keep going i guess, always shut if off and cooled it off. i would not do it again.

Did you have an external oil cooler or do you think that would of make much difference?

tried a large external oil cooler and then a radiator with a heat exchanger in it. neither stopped the problem, only slowed down the process some. the guy i sold it to ended up changing the block to fix the problem.

wish i had seen this a week ago! just bought a new 10.2 block and plan to fill it. I only use it for 200' mud drags, may have been perfect.

You should be fine, we tried it this year in a circle track engine, filled the 400 block half full with hard block, engine runs cooler, and oil temp has not been an issue.
But that was our combination
