Default What happens if you accidently push the trans brake button??

I'm new to a trans brake and just moved my button from the dash to the wheel. Got to thinking, what happens if?

If you don't have the transbrake lookout in your delay box it will engage the brake.

Well, if you do it going through the lights, plan on watching the transmission exiting the passenger side door.

Some transbrakes will activate reverse when it is in high gear and others will only allow for it to activate while only in low gear. The transbrake in my car is a full-tree brake that will not activate reverse when it is in high gear (I just tried it). You can check that out the next time you start your car. While sitting still, put it in high gear and push the button and see if it locks it into reverse and high gear at the same time.

While it might not be best in some people's minds, I have had my line-lock/transbrake button on the steering wheel for over 15 years and have never bumped the button by mistake (it could always happen).

Most will not do anything when trans is not is first gear, the transbrake locks first and reverse, I have only ran powerglides with brakes cant speak on anything else. The only thing that happens if mine is accidently hit is the nos is cancelled.

I've hit mine several times with my right forearm when turning around kinda sharp.

I've seen some 4x4's do a complete 90 degree endo on the front wheels.

That's when you hear someone in the crowd say" Kids don't try this at home"
