Ive got a backhalfed Malibu,383 on alky,1.76 glide,2770# with me in it,9" Ford,5:29 gear. It runs low to mid 6:40's in the 1/8 with a best of 6:36 and best 60' of 1.301. How much will it slow down with a 4:88 gear? When the tracks are marginal or hot its not as consistent. Has 14.5-32 slicks THANKS!

it might speed up depending on your engines power curve .good luck

That would be great if it did! It only runs 104.5 mph 1/8 mile so i know the gear holds it back some.I leave at 4200 go through at 7000,shifting at 7000,motor makes peak hp. at 6600.

i leave the same but have you ever tried shifting at 6600.
if you could shift there & go through close to 6600 i think that would be better & wouldn't be surpised if it were more consistant, not to mention easier on your stuff.good luck

My dads Malibu with a 406 ran best with 4.30 gears. Usually 9.80's in the 1/4, 9.59 was the best. It slowed down with a 4.71. If yo have enough converter for your combo, I think it will pick up.

BTE 8" convertor that will go 6000 on transbrake.I've tried shifting it sooner et fell off,its deadly consistent on a good track, but varies 3 or 4 hundreths when the tracks get hot and slick.Just hoping it dont hit the tirers so hard.A 60' time that fast is unusual for the et it runs plus the mph is way down from where it should be Thanks

I think it will pick it up. In my opinion that is a quick 60 ft for a car running 6.40

P.S. I live in Franklin IN.... what is that like 15 minutes from Shelbyville ?

Thanks i hope it doesent fall off 2 tenths! Yep Franklin is 35 min away,i live on the east side of Shelbyville. Where do you race at?

E.T Raceway in Bloomfield....it is about 56 miles South of Martinsville...have also ran at Tera Haute. Don't care much for Brown County but may be forceed to run there cause it is closer and we all know gas is 4 bucks a gallon now.

You might play around with the spreadsheets on Pages 2 and 3 of my site. Adjust the horsepower until you get the right calculated mph and then play with the gearing. The calculated ET's are for comparison purposes only.
