Not sure on your question never used the Summit but can tell you this. If your going to get something and decide on the MSD get a digital 7 and not the 7al3 many more options and not much more $. I have the al3 and wished I went with the digital.

Default Box

MSD for sure. It would not surprise me that the Summit box isn't made by MSD.

Digital 7 you only purchase once. Summit, maybe made in China, who do you send it to when it fails? Summit won't repair it, but MSD will always fix theirs.

Always spend that little bit more and get the better one like the MSD Digi 7. I brought a 7AL2 and a 3 step to try and save money but now i wish i saved up for an extra couple of weeks and brought the msd digi 7. So many options with it.and you can always get it serviced when it fails where the summit is a trow away item when it fails out of its warranty time.

Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but,do the digital boxes have ant real HP advantages over the other(analog???)type boxes,or is it just the bells and whistles that are available to use??Thanks.BTW,if you go MSD and break at the track(or in town for that matter)you can get parts just about anywhere.Parts availability is unbeatable with MSD.

Digital is much more function and allows you to tune. I went with the al3 and had nothing but troubles with a new box. The al3 is very popular on the sales side and on the warranty work side.

As for Summit, it is made by MSD. Verified that when we bought the Summit distributor and with our insider at the retail shop.
