Default first big block

ops: i just bought my first bbc(454) and have no clue what is what,square/round port is this intake or exhaust?are big and small block dist. the same?tranny bolt pattern same?any help would be greatful thans

Default big block

Transmission bolt pattern is the same as a sbc.Distributor is the same.Rectangle port and oval port refers to the intake runners.

ok now i have some basics can somebody tell me what i have and is it worth going thru? on back of block it has the number 364779 cast into it,thanx ahead of time for the help

Default casting number

i looked up the casting number and it says its a "366T" so that means i have a bbc with small block displacement?what a piece of crap! :x so what do i do junk and start over or is it worth fixing?

all depends on what you are looking to do with it? What you have is a standard truck motor.

my plans were to put it in my suburban,i am running 46" tires so i was looking for alot of torque
