Default ballpark horsepower guess of a 468 bbc

I just picked up a 468 shortblock that is 12.5:1... I have steel LS6 heads for it with a .718 roller and a Super Victor with a 1050 dominator...

I am just trying to get horsepower guesses...

thanks for your input...

Unfortunatly I dont know the flow numbers, they are ported a little. The duration @ 50 is 278... This is my first ever big block, I am setting this on my dragster, I was just wondering what horsepower it might be and what it might run at 1900 pounds....

thank you guys for help..

I would be very happy with that! somewhere around 8.40-8.50 in the 1/4?

David have you used a shorty glide in which the gear set was resplined to make it shorter? My shorty glide is a stock case with 1.76 stock gears that have been re-splined... It has the good high gear hub and clutches with a tci pro tree brake. Do you think it will be fine behind this motor? It worked perfect behind the 406 but I have heard mixed opinions on it behind the bbc...

thanks

I've never had one resplined but I do think you'll be fine, I ran 1/76 stock gears behind my small blocks going 5.0's/8.0 @ 1900lbs and never had a problem. The big block wont make a ton of HP and will be fine I think when you start getting closer to the 800hp mark is when you'd need to start thinking of a 1.80 straight cut.
