Default 383 stroker cam clearance

Using a crane solid roller lifter with horizontal bar ( sping up type) will I have to use a small base circle cam or can I use a normal off the shelf cam or do I need to change lifters. Using a callies comp star rotating assy w/ 6.00 rods. Thanks

Yes to all
You need to check it, a normal cam should work but you may need to grind the rods a little. A .900 base cam should clear your stroke and work with your lifters. Either way, check it. My 427 SB, 4" stroke, had to have .300 tall lifters, .850 base circle cam and grind a little on the rods.

I built a 385 chevy and used a doug herbert roller cam with small base circle...the horizontal bar lifters will not work (they bottomed out) i had to get a set of vertical lifters check out the prices of doug herberts cam was 200 and lifters are 189 cant beat the price and quality
